Pearl Thusi removed from SATY Awards

Johannesburg - TV and radio personality Pearl Thusi has revealed that she is no longer up for a South African of the Year award. 

Pearl was apparently removed from the nominees list, after she refused to have her family and friends on a video insert. 

The soap star was initially nominated in the Trendsetter Category. Pearl took to Twitter where she made the announcement to her followers.

Here's what she had to say...

So I was a nominee for an ANN7 #SATY award. Yes, "WAS". I was removed bcs I refused to have my family & friends motivate 4 a video insert ??

@sbeejay_ because I can't be using my friends and family to win awards. It's degrading. "Trendsetter of the year" has nothing 2 do with fam.
