Police commissioner Riah Phiyega: "No evidence it was a hit"

Police have revealed that they have no evidence that Senzo Meyiwa's killing was a hit but have confirmed that they will investigate all angles.

Police commissioner Riah Phiyega is currently addressing journalists at a press conference where she's elaborated on certain aspects of the investigation and has promised that her department will leave no stone unturned in bringing those responsible for Senzo’s death to book.

Contrary to previous reports, police have confirmed that Senzo was not protecting anyone at the moment of the shooting but tried to move towards the door, while someone else was struggling with the attacker.

"Currently we do not have any evidence that this was a hit. However we continue to investigate all angles," police said.

Police have also explained that house robberies were not a common problem in the area where Senzo was shot. Police are also compiling identikits which will be released to the media soon.

Police have described the killers as follows: one is tall, slender, dark with dreadlocks. The other short, dark and well built.

They've also emphasized that Kelly Khumalo is only being interviewed as an eyewitness and not for any other reason.
