President declares Provincial Official funeral for Senzo Meyiwa

President Jacob Zuma has declared a provincial funeral for fallen soccer star Senzo Meyiwa.

A statement was released this morning detailing the president's orders. The president has ordered that the national flag be flown at half-mast in KwaZulu-Natal where Senzo will be laid to rest. The same orders have been given for Olympic medalist Mbulaheni Mulaudzi, who also died this week.

"The two sports stars have represented the nation exceptionally well in national and international sporting engagements, generating immense national pride and unity," read the statement.

The statement also revealed that the president has also tasked the Minister in the Presidency, Jeff Radebe, to deliver the eulogy Senzo's funeral while the Minister of Public Service and Administration, Collins Chabane, will deliver the eulogy at Mbulaheni's funeral.

It's not clear if the president will be attending any of the funerals himself.
