Radio prank costs gospel singer R2000

Johannesburg - Musician Themba Nyathi is not happy! And on top of it, he's R2000 poorer!

This after pranksters tricked the afro-jazz and gospel singer into accepting a radio interview that turned out to be fake.

According to Daily Sun, the singer was approached to do an interview with Munghana Lonene FM’s Sidney Baloyi and DJ Brian on their Phaphama show.

So Themba packed it all up and travelled from Thulamahashe in Mpumalanga to Polokwane in Limpopo. He even booked a hotel so that he wouldn't be late for the interview. A trip that cost him over R2000.

The only problem was no one at Munghana Lonene knew about the interview. Themba had been punked!

Themba says he received an SMS the night before he was supposed to go on air cancelling the interview.

That's when he contacted the station and was told that he was not on the list of interviews for the show.

The station says that they could not identify the number that called Themba as they always conduct business over landlines and not cellphones.

Luckily, the station has now agreed to do an interview with the troubled gospel singer.

But if these expensive pranks continue, they might soon have to interview him for a job!
