Reason explains #ReazusChristIsCummin

Johannesburg - Rapper Reason has people a little uptight at the moment. This after his latest freestyle, entitled Reazus Christ is Cummin, caused widespread praise and criticism online.

On Monday The Juice revealed how Reason's new single's artwork, depicting a painting of Jesus with shades and naked ladies over his shoulder, has left many fans in shock and disbelief (Read more about his fans responses HERE).

Speaking to YFM's DJ Ankletap on Tuesday, Reason explains the thought process behind the project.

"The whole image is a metaphor of myself," he explains. "No, it's not how I see Jesus Christ. It's not how I see Christianity. It's how I see myself.

"I see myself as a child of God, but the world I live in has thrown so many evils at me, like woman. But all those things make me a tainted version of what I think Jesus Christ is," Reason says. "And I think I should be like him, hold closely to him, because that's the only way I've been taught I will get to heaven. The whole reason for this freestyle is to tell the truth and the truth about myself. I've been told the best way to get to heaven is to tell the truth about your situation and I'm being very truthful about my situation."

Reason also admits he may lose fans after the project, but says he probably was going to lose them anyway.

"I'm worried my fans will take it like that. I was going to lose you anyways based on my opinions on what I think and what I believe in. But this is not about Christianity," he says.

What's next for Reason? A gig on Gospel Gold? A collab with Sfiso Ncwane?
