Rebecca Malope falls victim to fraudsters

Johannesburg - Songbird Rebecca Malope has fallen prey to scammers who have hacked into her cellphone.

According to Sowetan, the singer is spitting fire because the fraudsters have demanded up to R15 000 from her friends and family.

Rebecca told the paper that she went into a Vodacom store to get a new phone last week, but requested to keep her cellphone number.  But shortly after she left the shop, Rebecca got a call from the consultant informing her that a man walked into the store requesting to have her old number.

The consultant obviously refused the client, but the next day Rebecca was only allowed to make emergency phone calls, and was notified about the whatsapp demands for money.

"She said that I've been demanding money, as much as R4000. Apparently I urgently needed the money for bail from jail because I was arrested by police after I drove past a red robot," Rebecca said.

Apparently the culprits are also using vulgar language towards her friends who refuse to give them money.

Eish...hope they're nabbed soon!
