Ringo's son, Phila, hits back at the haters

Johannesburg - Phila Madlingozi, son of the famous musician Ringo Madlingozi, has hit out at his critics, telling them to watch him prosper.

Phila has caused quite a fuss on social media, with many fans suggesting his father had a hand in securing him a place in the top 16 of reality music contest, Idols.

Ringo has come out in defence of his son, calling the criticism mischievous, and now Phila himself has come out to address the hate.

Talking to The Juice, Phila says he looks forward to making the haters his fans.

"People are interested and that's all that matters," he says. "They want to know if I really have the talent or if I'm riding on my father's fame, and that's an opportunity to prove them wrong."

Phila says Ringo has constantly been there for him, giving him fatherly advice to help him deal with the criticism.

"He speaks to me everyday. He always tells me to keep calm and be positive because people will always test," he says.

And with a few more weeks of Idols left, we're sure there will be plenty of tests ahead for Phila.
