Johannesburg - Just this week TV presenter, Roxy Burger, was part of the celeb-filled line-up for the new SHOUT music video. The organisation aims to give a voice to those affected by crime.
They say, if you yourself have not been a victim of violent crime in South Africa, you know someone who has.
Roxy opened up about a woman who was shot and killed in her neighbourhood yesterday.
In a series of heartfelt and emotional messages on Twitter, Roxy said that the woman had two small children and was killed in broad daylight.
She also admitted that she often drives home alone at night and that she is not vigilant enough herself.
Here are the Tweets:
Lady with two small children was shot and killed in a hijacking today. Round the corner from us. Senseless. Horrible. So unfair.

I'm so not vigilant enough. Are you? Do you keep on the lookout? This lady was shot in broad daylight. And I often shoot late, drive alone.

When will this violence end? I feel useless in doing anything about it. How can we ACTUALLY make a notable difference? It's so senseless.

This lady who was killed hits home. My dad was shot in a hijacking when I was 13. He lived. We were lucky. He didn't fight back... (cont)

(cont) He was washing his wheels & heard them creep up behind him. When he turned around he gave them a fright and the hijacker shot.

I pray that God, all powerful, and the universe look after her family tonight. And always. They must be devastated. Bless her children.
