SABC: "Bonang did not leave Metro FM. She was fired."

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago has confirmed that Bonang Matheba's depature from Metro FM was not voluntary.

The Top Billing presenter's radio dream was shattered after she signed to host a World Cup lifestlye show on SuperSport. She signed a contract with the channel before asking for permission.

Queen B, who hosted The Front Row, released a statement shortly after news got out that she and the station had parted ways.

It read: "My future potential cannot be jeopordised by accepting terms that will not grow my career. I could not agree to SABC's blanket terms - in restricting me to work with  other  broadcasters, even though my contract with them was on radio.

Kaizer said Bonang's contract was actually terminated after violating the rules, which state that one should ask for persmmission before making other commitments. "We made the decision to part ways with her."

This is in sharp contract to the news that it was Bonang who made the decision to leave the station.

Your move, B!
