Shashi Naidoo: "Don't set unrealistic goals"

Shashi Naidoo is a model, entrepreneur and TV personality who sets goals for herself and goes after them. Here's what Shashi has planned for the year ahead and how she tackles life's curveballs:

Do you believe in new years resolutions? For me new years resolutions are not about setting unrealistic goals. They are about taking the time to appreciate who you are and what you have achieved and resolve any issues you need to improve on. We face stumbles and losses throughout the year, and we also make mistakes, but learning through these experiences is what helps enhance everything about ourselves. Self-reflection is what gives us insights and awareness to move forward towards higher goals and accomplishments, so that’s why I set resolutions for myself.

What’s the one thing that’s been on your list forever and every year you break the resolution? Sticking to a regular gym regiment and not overindulging is always a challenge for me. However, with every year that passes, I have become comfortable with maintaining a healthy mind and body, and not stressing about the natural changes.

What goals have you set out for yourself for 2015? My family and friends are a great priority for me. Being able to spend more time with them is always my main goal. I would like for my modelling agency to keep growing  and gaining strides in the industry. Being in the entertainment industry, we always working towards career opportunities and I am grateful for the ones I received last year and I'm hoping for more in 2015.

On a personal level, what changes will you be implementing in the New Year? A lesson I have learnt is that life is impulsive and I can't control the changes that come my way. I let reality be and hope that the natural flow of life doesn’t bring me anything I can't handle.
