Johannesburg - Today would have been Top Billing presenter, Simba Mhere's, 28th birthday. As family and friends still battle to come to terms with his death, the man who smashed his car into Simba's, killing him and his friend, Kady-Shay O'Bryan, is set to appear in court.
Preshalin Naidoo faces charges of culpable homicide and reckless driving, but those close to Simba have told The Juice that they are unhappy with the way the case has been handled, labelling investigations as a major police bungle.
As previously reported by The Juice, officials failed to take blood tests at the scene to test for alcohol levels and other prohibited substances. But Metro Police say because Naidoo was injured, their first priority was to take him to hospital.
The case has been delayed several times, with the Mhere family being told that Naidoo was considering a plea bargain with the state.
Still, Simba's sister Valerie has called on justice to be served, previously telling us; "We want closure. As time goes on, we feel no justice has been done."
Simba and Kady were killed on 31 January on William Nicole Drive in Johannesburg. The family has accused officials of leaving them in the dark, and not providing details on the case.
Now, as they celebrate and mourn their loss on Simba's birthday, friends and family are expected to attend court proceedings today as Naidoo is expected in court this morning.
