Johannesburg - While some of Mzansi's biggest A-listers were schmoozing up to Pharrell Williams, Simphiwe Dana says she just couldn't bring herself to meet with the global superstar.
Pharrell was in the country last week to perform and do ambassador work for his initiative with Woolworths (read more about that here).
And while most A-list celebs were clamouring to get a selfie with the baby-faced star, Simphiwe Dana was not one of them.
Instead the songbird decided to join the ranks of the group protesting against the artist's collaboration with Woolworths. Woolworths have been the focus of several pro-Palestine protests due to the company's so called trade relations with Israel.
"He was here. I really wanted to meet him. But we were on opposing ends of our activism," Simphiwe wrote of her experience on social media.
Simphiwe, who has previously met the star in LA, admits that she almost set up another meeting with Happy singer but couldn't bring herself to do it.
"I tried to arrange a meet, but in the end my conscience wouldn't allow it," she added.
I guess you could say her mind wouldn't give her...
