Johannesburg - For many, it was the highlight of this year's SA Music Awards: Afro-soul singer Simphiwe Dana singing an Afrikaans duet with Kurt Darren.
The pair were absolutely amazing, but when The Juice caught up with Simphiwe for a chat recently, she told us it was one of the most nerve-racking performances of her life but she would do it all again. In fact, she wants to!
"For me, it was all about the challenge. I don't even speak Afrikaans! I don't understand it at all! But it was a challenge for me and it excited me. Having said that, I was nervous even up until the moment we went on stage because I was scared I would mess up and forget the words or something but we did well...we pulled it off," she says of the experience.
So, would she make a career of singing in Afrikaans?
"I can't see myself singing Afrikaans," she laughs. "But I would love to do a song with Kurt in the future - but I don't think I'll be singing in Afrikaans this time!".
So... no Simphiwe at the sokkie then?
