The public broadcaster has confirmed that Generations will be replaced with the youth drama series, Skeem Saam.
Producers and the SABC made the announcement on Friday that the hit soapie will be off air until December, while filming of the 'new Generations' is underway.
The youth drama series, follows the lives of a group of youngsters and their coming of age journeys. Even though the 8pm slot will look a whole lot different, the soapie still offers a daily dose of drama.
Skeem Saam features the likes of Amanda du Pont and Eric Macheru.
In the press statement SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago admitted that postponing the soapie could have serious long-term implications. "The only challenge is if Skeem Saam gives us more viewers and then Generations comes back, but we will see," he added.
