Team Oscar speaks out on club brawl "Mortimer is peddling untruths."

Anneliese Burgess, the spokesperson for Oscar Pistorius has just released a statement on behalf of the Pistorius family regarding the brawl at The VIP Room night club on Saturday.

As reported by The Juice, it was confirmed that Oscar was involved in an altercation with fellow club-goer, Jared Mortimer.

Both parties had different versions as to what happened, with both claiming the other was aggressive.

Now, a statement has been released regarding the incident. It is from Leo Pistorius, uncle to Oscar. Leo says the family 'felt compelled to issue a statement as some of the outrageous statements simply cannot stand uncorrected.'

The statement says Oscar venturing out into a public space in the current climate and while his court case is still underway was unwise."Those of us closet to him have been witness to his escalated sense of loneliness and isolation. This, we believe, is underlying some of his self-harming behaviour. "

He goes on to add that, "As a family we are counselling Oscar to find ways of dealing with his feelings of isolation. At the same time, however, we cannot allow one mans untrue version of what happened to stand unchallenged."

He has labelled Jared Mortimer as a 'man peddling untruths designed for maximum attention and maximum damage.' He also denied insulting President Jacob Zuma or his family. "There is absolutely no truth to assertions that Oscar insulted the President or boasted about our so-called influence. Nor is the bizarre statement that our family 'owns the SANDF.' Oscar was at school with one of the Zuma sons and liked him a lot."

The statement says that both Oscar and his cousin were taken aback by Jared's accusations relating to the trial. "My investigations confirm that Mr.Mortimer was the aggressor and eyewitnesses confirm this. Being in a public space, putting himself in a place where this kind of confrontation could take place was ill considered."
