Johannesburg - Being a down-and-out superstar is not just a character Thembi Seete is playing on our TV screens. It was almost the tale of her life!
Speaking to Move recently, Thembi reveals that there was a time where she feared for her existence after nearly losing it all.
Thembi says she remembers the long, dark days after her group Boom Shaka broke up.
"Everybody in the group wanted to do their thing. I was left alone and that was an eye opener for me," Thembi says.
"I learned from that day that I have to use my skills and learn to stand on my own," she added.
But that didn't stop the repo-man from knocking when things were just not happening for Thembi.
"When we rose to stardom we were still young with no proper education about the industry. Artists who were famous and had lots of money when we were growing up were now penniless. We learned along the road that you have to save money for the future," she says.
"I remember there was a time when my car was repossessed, and my house was given a notification to go under the hammer," she adds.
And, although she has left those troubles behind, Thembi's experiences seem to have helped in her new role on the e.tv soapie Rhythm City. A role the whole of Mzansi loves her for!
