2014 saw Toya Delazy drop her highly anticipated second album, Ascension. It was well received by her fans and critics alike.
The Juice sat down with Toya to talk about the new album and its inspirations. To get inspiration for the new album, Toya travelled around the world, including America. Toya explains that this is a major reason for the album sounding so different from her debut Dew Drop.
“It’s different because I wrote it in different parts of the world,” she says. “With all these travels, with all these experiences, I’ve managed to put them all in one package and that’s called Ascension”.
The sounds she heard on her travels, Toya says, inspired her to experiment more on the album, something that was not lost on many who have listened to it. "The diversity is part of this package I hope my fans will appreciate and enjoy," she says.
