Tribe One Festival: Case thrown out of court

Oi.

The court case involving the City of Tshwane and Tribe One Festival organisers' has been struck off the roll.  An urgent application was made to the court, but the judge found that there was no urgency to the matter.

Both parties will return to court in two weeks time to argue who should bare the costs of the application.

The City of Tshwane has already forked out R65 million before the festival was cancelled and want to recoup its investment.

The municipality is adamant that the site was ready but organisers' say the site was nowhere near safe to hold a three-day festival.

Sony Music SA's lawyer Derrick Kauffman told Eyewitness News that this was a victory for them.

"Today we were vindicated. The judge struck the matter from the roll by ruling there was no urgency for the application to be heard," he told the station.
