Unathi Msengana has been suspended

Johannesburg- The SABC has confirmed that radio personality, Unathi Msengana has been temporarily suspended from Metro FM. 

The announcement comes hot-on-the heels of a Twitter uproar, which occurred on Monday afternoon after comments Unathi made about the alleged racism at Stellenbosch University went viral. (Read that story here) 

Twitter followers lambasted Unathi for allegedly encouraging the alleged racism. 

Shortly after the comments went viral, Unathi lashed out a fan for apparently insulting her husband, labelling her a "psycho b**ch." (Read that story here) 

SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago confirmed that it had been decided to take Unathi off air until the matter was investigated. 

According to Destiny Man, the discussion around Stellenbosch was scheduled and Unathi was going to ask questions about the issue. 

"We decided to put her off until we finish engaging about the issue. We have no control over DJs and what they do in their private space. But our DJs should know that they are representatives of the brand," he explained. 

It's believed that Unathi could be back at work tomorrow or 'any other day.'
