According to various reports, the actor was in Ballito, Durban, when the incident occurred.
It's believed the driver of the other car was arrested on the scene after tests showed that he was intoxicated.
Mpumelelo was lucky enough to escape with a few bruises and cuts and should be returning to work this week.
