We chat to new Miss SA, Rolene Strauss. And boy, do we like her!

She's a 21-year-old medical student, was the University of the Free State's first successful test tube baby and our new Miss SA.  The Juice spoke to Rolene Strauss the day after she was crowned Miss SA. And we like her. A lot.

Firstly, congratulations! It's the day after you've won - does any of this feel real?

Thank you (giggles) It feels like I'm not here. Like I'm abouve my head. It's all very unreal.

But you must've thought you had a chance to win?

Of course. I wouldn't of entered if I thought I didn't stand a chance.

You're in your fourth year as a medical student. Why enter a beauty competition?

Miss SA is all about giving. And so is being a doctor. So for me it was really the perfect combination.

Fair enough. We take it you're putting your studies on hold?

I am. I'm going to focus on Miss SA this year. Then I will return and after that I plan to complete my MBA. As a doctor you can only reach those people right near you. I want to be able to focus on creating a business that will empower women and focus on women's health - that way I will reach so many more.

Right. So, what kind of difference do you think you'll realistically make?

Each person has something to give. Mine is a renewed focus on women's health.

On to more important things: The sash - will you wear it everywhere?

Well, there is talk about giving us various options. A black sash, a nude sash and even a sash with sparkles.

Ooh, sparkles. Now that's an improvement.  On your Twitter profile, you seem to be a big fan of taking selfies. What's the weirdest selfie you've ever had to take?

Hmmm, it would have to during the Road to Miss SA. It was on one of the challenges and I had to take a selfie with an Eagle. That was unusual.

You're moving to Joburg now. Can you cook?

I'd love to say I can, but I can't. If I have a recipe I'm sure I can do it. I'm really good at following instructions.

Complete the sentence:

I love: popcorn

I am grateful for: all of the support

My one message is: the future is bright.

She's really a beauty, isn't she? Check out our gallery of Rolene Strauss below:
