Winnie Madikizela-Mandela has reportedly filed papers to stop a meeting by the abaThembu royal family to resolve infighting in the Mandela family. According to The New Age, the papers were filed in the Mthatha High Court.
According to her lawyer Mvuzo Notyesi, the papers have been filed and argument is expected to start on Wednesday.
Winnie, who is Nelson Mandela's ex-wife, reportedly wants an interdict that will order that the meeting not be held in Qunu. The meeting, which is aimed at resolving issues and finding solutions to preserve stability in the household, is supposed to be hosted by Mandla Mandela next week.
Some of the other agendas to be discussed include Winnie's claim to the Qunu property and Mandla's role as the head of the Mandela, according to City Press. Mvuzo told the paper: "Yes, we are interdicting the meeting. Where are they going to have this meeting? Not in Qunu, surely, because they can't hold a meeting at Mama Winnie's house without her blessings."
The paper is also reporting that Mandla confirmed that he was served with court papers.
