Yes! Unathi Msengana will be back at Metro tomorrow

Johannesburg - After more than five weeks off-air, Metro FM radio presenter Unathi Msengana will be back at the radio station tomorrow.

The SABC on Sunday confirmed the news to The Juice, saying that all issues have been resolved. "Unathi will be back on radio tomorrow. There have been several meetings held regarding this and we can confirm she will be back on air," the SABC's Kaizer Kganyago told us.

Unathi was suspended after making controversial statements linked to the Luister video, which details alleged racisim at Stellenbosch University.

As previously reported by The Juice, there was somewhat of a stalemate between Unathi and her employer. "They want her to apologise and she wasn't willing to do that," sources told us.

At the time, the SABC also confirmed that although a contract is in place, both parties can withdraw, meaning it could be Unathi who was threatening to leave, instead of widespread speculation that she was being fired.

The Juice has also been told that the five week suspension did affect Unathi financially. Because she is a freelancer like all other on-air talent at the public broadcaster, you only get paid when you work.

A meeting between Unathi and the station was held on Friday, where an agreement was reached. Whether she is going to apologise, well, we'll have to wait to hear tomorrow!

Either way, we're glad to have you back!

P.S That #BringBackUnathi also played a part in this, say our insiders. "The SABC was very aware of the public pressure regarding this story and know that Unathi had a lot of support behind her."

Indeed!
