The popular #alsicebucketchallenge trend has gone viral over the last few days, but we were worried our local celebs were falling a little behind their American counterparts when it came to adopting the trend.
Seems we didn't really have to worry that much because local Expresso presenter Katlego Maboe has given us our first proper sighting of a South African #alsicebucketchallenge bucket dunk!
The challenge involves well known celebrities, athletes and even ordinary people volunteer to get dumped by a bucket of ice water to bring awareness of Motor Neuron or Lou Gehrig's disease. The dunked person then challenges another two or three people to take the challenge, which they have to respond to within 24 hours.
"Did the #ALSIceBucketChallenge for all those who suffer from #ALS ( #MND ), especially my sister, Revoniah, who was diagnosed last year. So much more needs to be done to help find a cure and this in one little step in that journey," Katlego wrote on Instagram Monday morning, next to a picture of himself getting dumped on the set of Expresso.
He then laid down the gauntlet to three local celebs . "I hereby challenge@mmaponyane @poppyismyname and the Honorable Minister Fikile Mbalula to take this challenge, as I did, to help create awareness around ALS/MND! You can do it too!" he wrote.
