Black Coffee on fame: I was ready for it

Johannesburg - It can't be easy being DJ Black Coffee: not only are you constantly battling jet lag as you cruise across the world, but you also have to deal with all the other trappings of fame.

But Black Coffee says it's been fairly easy for him, because he was ready for it when it came.

Talking to Destiny recently, Black Coffee explained that he is grateful. "I feel very fortunate that I'm as disciplined as I am. I've never smoked. I've never taken alcohol. I've always been this disciplined person, to some extent. So, I feel very blessed that that's the route I took and when the fame happened, it happened at a time that I was ready for it," he says.

Black Coffee says that his experiences in the industry have helped him see his strengths, and know how to improve himself.

But he also reveals that there is a dark side to fame that has sometimes prevented him from being there for people when the really wanted and needed him.
