Bobby van Jaarsveld undergoes vocal cord surgery

Johannesburg - Afrikaans pop singer and The Voice SA coach, Bobby Van Jaarsveld, was admitted to hospital on Wednesday morning ahead of an operation on his vocal cords.

It is believed that Bobby, who has become a firm favourite on The Voice SA, has been struggling with his vocal cords for sometime now, and has recently been on a 'vocal rest' with the discovery of possible nodes on his cords.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday morning, Bobby posted a picture of himself in hospital, alongside the caption: "Hier lê ek nou (Here I lie)! Ready for my operation and my wife won't leave my sight."

Speaking to The Juice on Wednesday, M-Net publicist Ingrid Engelbrecht confirmed that Bobby has been struggling with his cords for sometime and had previously told the broadcaster that he may require surgery to rectify the issue.

Bobby's manager, Ronel van Jaarsveld, confirmed to The Juice that Bobby is undergoing an operation "for his voice" but said that it is a quick procedure that will see the star return home by Thursday.

"He is confident and positive ahead of the operation and he just wants to get it out of the way," Ronel says.

The Voice SA fans will still be able to see him on their screens on Sunday.
