DJ Donald's sentencing begins today

Johannesburg - Former Jozi FM DJ, Donald Sebolai, will hear his fate today when sentencing is passed down in the South Gauteng High Court in Palm Ridge.

Donald, who was affectionately known as DJ Donald by his listeners, was last month found guilty of murdering his girlfriend, Dolly Tshabalala in 2014.

Donald had pleaded not guilty throughout the trial, claiming he stabbed Dolly in self-defence after she tried to stab him.

But in handling down judgement, judge Cassim Moosa said Donald's version of events was "false beyond reasonable doubt" and that Donald had made the situation worse by running from police.

Court is due to start at 9am.
