DJ Sbu puts 'world record' event on hold

Johannesburg- DJ Sbu's plans to break a world have been put on ice.

Sbu revealed earlier this week that he planned to take MoFaya to new heights this Saturday (21 November) by breaking the record for most cans opened simultaneously on one day.

The event was supoosed to take place at the Maponya Mall in Soweto, where they hoped that at least 10 000 people would gather. (Read that story here

If you were amped for tomorrow, you're going to have to wait a little longer to help Sbu break that record.

Sbu took to social media where he explained that due to the overwhelming response, the logistics have become more difficult, and that a bigger venue is needed, as well as permission from the Joburg municipality.

The business mogul added that he hates disappointment, but this is something that had to be done.

Sorry peeps!

#BreakingNews! Due to popular demand & over subscription we will be deferring the Doves/ MoFaya event that was scheduled to take place on 21 November 2015 due to Security concerns. With children, families, shoppers that frequent #MaponyaMall every weekend & followers of Mofaya who are expected to show up in thousands to set a world record. We have decided to move the event to a bigger venue which will be communicated at a later stage. We are putting HIGHER security and safety measures in place to ensure safety and comfort of all our guests. Especially children. The bigger numbers expected on Saturday force us to involve not only the Maponya Mall management, but the City of Joburg Municipality & the community of Soweto. This is be iming bigger than we thought. Thank you to all media, friends, peers, fellow entertainers who have all shown positive support. I hate to disappoint everyone but its for the good. We apologise for the inconvenience and we are looking forward to you joining us at a bigger venue. #WeCantBeStopped #DovesGivesMoFaya #MofayaDovesWorldRecord #MoThixo #MoEnergy #MoJobs #MoEntrepreneurs #MoEducation #MoEconomicFreedom #MoMlilo #UfikileUmlilo #Bayashabantu
