DJ Zinhle always puts herself first

Johannesburg -  It’s been just over three months since DJ Zinhle shocked fans with a public statement about an alleged affair between Bonang Matheba and her baby daddy, AKA.

Let’s rewind abit…

Zinhle and AKA’s romance has been an open secret for a few years now. But the usually media shy and private couple always kept their private life away from the public eye.

And, then something changed this year. Zinhle and AKA seemed to become a lot more open about their personal life ever since Zinhle fell pregnant. From sweet holiday snaps to her growing baby bump, Zinhle shared the experience with fans on social media.

Shortly after news of her pregnancy emerged, Zinhle started her blog MomentsbyDjZinhle, which documented some of her most special moments. Things seemed to be perfect between her and AKA. But then Zinhle shocked fans with a public statement on her blog announcing her split from AKA.

Just after the announcement, Zinhle returned to her blog after pictures of AKA and Bonang surfaced. Zinhle claimed in a public statement that an affair between AKA and Bonang was the reason for their split. Zinhle said that she respected AKA’s honesty and decision, and that they would continue to be the best parents to Baby Kairo.

Despite the swirling commentary surrounding the scandal, Zinhle remained strong in her morals and values. “As I transition into a new phase of my life, navigating motherhood, work, family, friends. I want to look back at this moment and be proud of the choices I made as a role model not only for any woman going through a hard time but for my little Kairo who I hope will pull strength and find courage to choose herself and trust in her own power,” Zinhle wrote in her statement.

Naturally in a situation such as this, fans took sides in the saga. Zinhle found herself being insulted by Twitter trolls, while being supported by others.    But as difficult as it may have been for her, Zinhle managed to keep her head above water. In a recent interview with Grazia, Zinhle revealed that there are tough times, but she has learnt not to let it get to her.

And that's her biggest lesson: that's she's enough.
