Major questions over Rapulana Seiphemo accident

Johannesburg - The Juice can on Monday confirm that actor Rapulana Seiphemo has been discharged from hospital and is recovering at his home in Johannesburg.

Family spokesperson Mduduzi Sikhakhane confirmed that he was discharged from Milpark Hopsital on Saturday after being involved in a fatal accident on the N14 near Diepsloot. "He is at home now and resting. He is surrounded by family and friends."

As the actor spends time healing from the accident, major questions have been raised over the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

Was it a hijacking gone wrong?

The Sunday Independent reported over the weekend that while two of the passengers who were in Seiphemo's car at the time of the accident were killed, the one surviving passenger has been under heavy police guard at a Gauteng hospital.

The newspaper claims that security had to be beefed up outside his hospital room after he tried to escape. The paper reported that this has led investigators to believe that the passengers inside the actor's car were hijackers. Adding further fuel to the speculation is the fact that sources have reportedly told the paper that the passengers are unknown to Seiphemo, with police officials giving no indication into their identity, saying it is a sensitive matter.

Officials have confirmed that one person is currently under police watch in hospital.

The actor was involved in a head-on collision which left three people dead, and Seiphemo and one other person critically injured.

Will Seiphemo be charged?

Meanwhile, other media reports claim that police are investigating a case of culpable homicide against Seiphemo as he was apparently the driver of the accident.

When asked for comment, Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng told The Juice he was unaware of any investigation against Seiphemo.
