Minnie turns down Live Amp job

Johannesburg- Minnie Dlamini's management have reportedly confirmed that she has turned down an offer by SABC big wigs to take over as the new presenter of Live Amp.

A search to fill Pearl Thusi's position is still underway, almost three weeks after it was announced that she would be leaving.

The news came just hours after Pearl and D'banj were revealed as the new hosts of MTV's Lip Sync Africa Battle.

While the SABC would not be drawn into commenting about the details surrounding Pearl's exit, speculation has been rife that Pearl joining a rival broadcaster allegedly angered the public broadcaster.

A week after Pearl's departure from the show, Bonang Matheba was brought in as a guest presenter of the show. Both Bonang and Minnie's presenting careers started at the music show.

It is also an open secret that Bonang and Minnie have an ongoing rivalry between them, often competing for the same endorsement deals and positions.

According to Sunday World, the SABC offered the position to Minnie, however she turned down the offer.

"She was the first to be approached. Unfortunately she could not accept the job as she is currently overcommitted and busy with her foundation and Soccer Zone. All the projects need her attention and she also has a few more projects lined up which we will announce soon," Minnie's publicist Jarred Doyle told the paper.

Jarred also poured cold water over rumours that Minnie snubbed the SABC due to any sort of animosity.

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago also confirmed that Minnie was approached for the position, but also rubbished rumours that she gave the broadcaster the cold shoulder.

Kaizer added that guest presenters will be used until a permanent presenter is found.
