Okmalumkoolkat management mum on Australia assault claims

Johannesburg - The management team for well-known South African rapper Okmalumkoolkat, whose real name is Brian Simiso Zwane, are tight-lipped on allegations surrounding his involvement in an alleged case of assault in Australia.

Australian publication, The Mercury on Thursday reported that Zwane, who was in the country to perform at a music festival, had been jailed for a month after pleading guilty to charges of indecent assault and assault.

It's reported by the publication that he was arrested after allegedly entering a fellow artist's room and kissing her inappropriately. On Friday the story was picked up by his fans on social media in South Africa and he soon began trending. His pr team, Stamp Communications, confirmed to The Juice that it was aware of the reports and issued a statement.

"At this stage, we have limited information regarding the judgement on Simiso Zwane in Australia, but with no previous legal charges or history of any violence whatsoever and knowing Simiso as we and most of you all do, we can say that the news comes as a huge surprise and one which has truly rocked us all."

Stamp Communications has closed ranks since releasing the statement, saying that there was no further update. When contacted by The Juice on Monday, Bulie Nazo said there was no more information.

The Department of International Relations have also said that they are not aware of the arrest.
