Johannesburg- Pearl Thusi took some time to reflect on her journey with Live AMP, with her role as a presenter coming to an end last week.
On Thursday afternoon fans were shocked when the SABC confirmed that Pearl was leaving the show with immediate effect.
A few hours before the announcement was made, Pearl and Naija superstar D'Banj were revealed as the new hosts of MTV's Lip Sync Battle. (Read more on that here)
News of Pearl's exit from the weekly music show was followed by swirling weekend reports, which claim that Pearl's resignation from Live AMP allegedly angered SABC big wigs.
Sunday World is reporting that following Pearl's resignation, Hlaudi Motsoeneng has allegedly given instruction that Pearl be removed from her other projects with the SABC.
Apparently the SABC has implemented a new rule, which prevents talent from working with rival media houses. However, these claims were dismissed by SABC spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago.
Despite the commentary surrounding Pearl's exit, she has nothing but positive things to say about the show.
"To the show that lifted and carried me for 3 years. The people who tuned in and gave us so much love. SABC1 for believing in me. Crew and producers for creating such an amazing work experience. @shady_lurker & @lootlove for being such amazing professionals. I could never thank you enough," Pearl wrote on social media.
Pearl added that even though leaving Live AMP was very difficult for her, change is inevitable and she had to let go.
Judging by Pearl's heartfelt post there seems to be no beef here!
