SABC confirm Pearl Thusi's future at Metro FM 'under review'

Johannesburg - The SABC on Tuesday confirmed to The Juice that Pearl Thusi is again in talks with Metro FM management over her future at the radio station.

Pearl had previously been taken off air over a 'disagreement' between herself and management. It was rumoured that she had been suspended for constantly making comments about Bonang Matheba.

Pearl was back on-air for one day after that issue was sorted out. However, she has again been taken off because of a separate issue, SABC spokesperson Kazier Kganyago confirms. "The first issue was sorted out. She was back on air during the Metro Awards. Subsequent to that, another matter arose and she is again in talks with management."

When asked if it was because she was working with a rival broadcaster, a move which many reports claimed saw her 'dumped' from Live AMP, Kganyago refused to confirm the speculation. "It is a matter between Pearl and her employer. We cannot go into detail but Pearl's future at the station is being discussed by both parties."

He also moved to deny reports that Pearl had been fired from Live Amp, insisting that she had resigned from her position as a presenter on the show.

Pearl was announced as the host of MTV's Lip Sync Battle Africa, a position insiders say has the SABC up in arms as it doesn't promote presenters working for other broadcasters. Various presenters, including Bonang Matheba have faced similar reaction, but both parties were eventually able to sort out their differences.
