The lowdown on your favourite rapper's upcoming album

Johannesburg - When it comes to hip-hop, sometimes our favourite artists just know how to take their time, hey?

From Kwesta to Ma-E and AKA, some of the game's biggest players have promised albums this year.

But how far along are their much-anticipated albums?

We got the scoop.

Kwesta

Kwesta fans can expect to get their paws on the much-awaited Dakar II next Friday (26 February). The album features collaborations with the likes of AKA, Cassper Nyovest and more. For more details on the album read here. Just don't pirate it, okay?

Ma-E

The wait for Ma-E's debut album must feel like the national drought to his fans, but the good news is that his album has now officially been mastered and is just about ready to drop.

All we need is for him to give us a release date so we can change all our plans.

AKA

The real Super Mega has promised fans that he will be releasing his follow-up to 2014's Levels later this year.

After spending the end of last year in studio, AKA started the year with several brainstorm meetings with his production team to craft more of the album.

He has spoken about the process taking time (more on that here) but most recently hinted at a collab with African artist M.I, which might make the album... when it gets here.

Kid X

The CashTime rapper thought he had pleased fans when he dropped a mixtape late last year, but the sheer quality of the tape only made people want his debut album more.

He recently revealed that he had to go back to the drawing board to make the album bigger and better, but that fans can expect his album later this year and it will be entitled, Thank the King.

Yanga

Yanga may have burst onto the scene in 2014, but fans will have to wait until later in 2016 to finally hear a mixtape from him. The upcoming mixtape, entitled Touch is a Move, will act as a first taste ahead of the young artist's much-anticipated debut album.
