FIRST LOOK: All the emojis coming in 2018

Cape Town – Emoji candidates for 2018 have been released and they include an afro emoji and a red-hair emoji.

Unicode, the consortium responsible for choosing the new emoji across all platforms, released a beta list earlier this month to give people an idea of what’s to come.

While the list is unconfirmed and is still open for additions or removals, some of the new emojis meet long overdue requests.

Some of the candidates also include a softball, cupcake, supehero, bagel, kangaroo, teddy bear, mango, party face, skateboard, and spool of thread.

According to Unicode a final list of new emojis will be drafted on 1 January and will be signed off on 3 January. Unfortunately, people will very likely only be able to use the new emojis in the second half of the year.
