Joe Biden is the 46th president of the United States – and the 14th to take office during Queen Elizabeth's historic 68-year reign.
Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Her Majesty reached out to Biden before he was sworn in on Wednesday, 20 January, in the form of a private letter, reports People.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson also expressed his congratulations to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the first woman vice president, and first Black vice president and first of Indian descent.
Congratulations to @JoeBiden on being sworn in as President of the United States and to @KamalaHarris on her historic inauguration. America’s leadership is vital on the issues that matter to us all, from climate change to COVID, and I look forward to working with President Biden.
