- South Africans can watch the live broadcast on TikTok's official account on their app on Saturday at 02:00 or a rebroadcast of the show on TikTok South Africa's page later that day.
The Weeknd will transform into a digital avatar as he takes over popular app TikTok on Friday.
While many musicians have produced online shows for their fans, The Weeknd Experience, as the concert has been dubbed, promises to take things to a new level as the singer performs songs from his After Hours album in virtual reality.
"Through TikTok's first-of-its-kind virtual musical experience, you'll be captivated and suspended in space while The Weeknd invites you into the awesome madness of his world, as seen through his own eyes," TikTok said about the event.
According to the company, fans will also be able to interact with The Weeknd's avatar during the immersive experience.
"The Weeknd Experience will raise funds for The Equal Justice Initiative, and we're going to match funds raised up to a generous amount," the statement goes on to say.
South Africans who want to tune into the Weeknd's show can watch the live broadcast at 02:00 on Saturday 8 August via TikTok's official account on the app (@tiktok) or catch the rebroadcast at 18:00 later that day on TikTok South Africa's official account (@tiktoksouthafrica).
