AMAPIANO producer Soa Mattrix is proud of himself for releasing a song with USA singer, Usher.

The Soweto-born producer, whose real name is Mandla Mashakeni, released a new album titled Akani. He features Usher on one of the songs titled Ruin Remix and hopes people will welcome it with warm hearts.

The 26-year-old from Diepkloof, who has worked with the likes of DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, Bootle, and Nkosazana Daughter, has released a spiritual album that he hopes will motivate people.

The Mina Nawe hitmaker spoke to Daily Sun at Y Studios in Hyde Park, Joburg, on Thursday, 2 May. He said this album means a lot to him.

"Working with Usher was so amazing. His team approached me. They told me they're releasing a song titled Ruin. It's on a deluxe album, and they wanted an amapiano remix of it. It was an honour to be approached by his team and find myself working on an Usher project. It was an exciting time.

"Akani means building; most of the people I featured on the album are up-and-coming artists and new artists that are coming to the game. It's a spiritual album, spreading a message about love and achievements," said Soa Mattrix.

He reckons people will receive this album after some time because it needs to sink in.

"Because this is a spiritual album, I see people taking the time listening to it because it must sink in, but I think in a couple of months, it's going to start to pick up. I have a vision of seeing how the project is going to perform," he said.

Soa Matrix said he hopes this album will change people's lives because it relates to their daily lives.

"Whoever is going to receive this album, I just hope it will change the situations that they go through because it has that message of encouraging and motivating people. I hope they'll love it," he said.

He said he'll be busy in 2024, working on a joint EP with Mashudu that will be released later in the year.
