Cape Town - Think about what you’ve been doing for the past three years, while you’ve been doing that, Kylie Jenner has been making millions of dollars.

Granted, being born into a rich family must have given her a pretty good head start, but her hard work and business mind can’t go unnoticed. At the tender age of 20, and between having a baby, Kylie has made the Forbes’ annual list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women.

Coming in at number 27, with an estimated net worth of $900 million, the 20-year-old is the sole owner of her cosmetics line, Kylie Cosmetics, with virtually no partners or capital.

“I said, 'I'm ready to put up my own money. I don't want to do it with anyone else,” Kylie told Forbes.

Forbes reports that Kylie Cosmetics is now worth nearly $800 million (R10.7 billion) and Jenner owns 100% of the company. Kylie, who is featured on the magazine’s cover, is the youngest person to ever make the list.

“Add to that the millions she's earned from TV programs and endorsing products like Puma shoes and PacSun clothing, and $60 million (R807 million) in estimated after-tax dividends she's taken from her company, and she's conservatively worth $900 million(R12.7 million), which along with her age makes her the youngest person on the fourth annual ranking of America's Richest Self-Made Women,” writes Natalie Robehmed of Forbes.

Being part of a family consisting of such powerful, influential women wasn’t the easiest thing for Kylie when it comes to finding her passion.

"I struggled for a minute with finding something to do on my own," Kylie said.

However, upon realising that she has a huge following on social media, Kylie says that helped her get easier access to her supporters, and maybe that’s why her business is doing so well.

"Social media is an amazing platform; I have such easy access to my fans and my customers."

In future, Kylie plans to pass her business on to her 5-months-old daughter, Stormi:

"Maybe one day [I'll] pass this on to Stormi, if she's into it."
