Cape Town - Few people were probably more surprised than WWE star Nikki Bella when John Cena admitted that he still wants to marry her and start a family – just weeks after the couple split up.
John Cena opened up about his high-profile split from ex-fiancée Nikki Bella during an interview with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on The Today Show.
The 41-year-old wrestler and actor admitted on Monday that he still loves his former fiancée, whom he split from last month, and wants to start a family with her despite previously claiming he would never want to be a father.
“It’s been very difficult. I had my heart broken out of nowhere – or for me it was out of nowhere — and anyone who’s experienced that knows that it comes with a series of bad feelings.
“I’ve looked at myself every day, and I’ve tried to evaluate myself every day and the woman I love.
“For anyone out there speculating on what I’m doing with my life now: I still love Nicole. I would still love to marry Nicole. I still would love to have a family with Nicole.”
Nikki has since responded to his comments, saying she’s amazed by his words, but still wants to take time to think things through so that neither of them have any regrets.
“I’m speechless. That’s crazy,” the 34-year-old star told Extra.
“I have hope I’m at a point in my life where I feel like I kind of lost me, and I want to find me and work on me,” she added.
“I just want John and I both to live happily ever after, whether it’s together or separate, and I just don’t want us to go down the road in life and have regrets of like ‘I did this for you’ or ‘you did this for me’. So I think it’s okay in relationships to take that moment [to think things through].”
