WATCH: Liam Hemsworth gushes about married life with Miley Cyrus

Cape Town – Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus stepped out for the first time since tying the knot and they couldn’t be happier.

The Nothing Breaks Like a Heart hitmaker showed her support for her new hubby at the 16th Annual G'Day USA Awards Gala on Saturday night, where Liam was presented with the G'Day USA Excellence in Film Award.

Thanking Miley in his speech, Liam said: “Thank you to my beautiful wife. You are a sweet, sweet angel.”

Speaking to E! News at the event, Liam gushed about married life saying: “It's great, it's great...it's an awesome thing to go through. You know, we've been together for a long time and it felt like it was the right time to do it.”

The lovebirds confirmed they wed in an intimate ceremony when sharing photos of the special day in December. Shortly thereafter, Miley was forced to deny pregnancy rumours after she was pictured wearing a loosely-fitted dress.
