Cape Town - Camilla isn’t that keen on becoming the next queen.

It’s been 14 years since she and Prince Charles tied the knot but the Duchess of Cornwall is feeling jittery about the day her royal husband will ascend to the throne, Daily Express reports.

According to royal author Penny Junor, Camilla is trying not to think about being the future queen.

"Friends and family know it’s not something she wants – she’s said as much," Penny writes in her book The Duchess: Camilla Parker Bowles and the Love Affair That Rocked the Crown.

"She’s in this position because of her love of the man, not because of her desire to be anything more than a support to him.

"The whole business of his accession is something she dreads and, in her inimitable way, is choosing not to think about."

Although Camilla won’t automatically become the queen, the royal author believes the Prince of Wales will insist on Camilla receiving the title, New Idea reports.

"Charles will try and press for her to be crowned queen. And it’s right that he should do so. We have no known basis of the wife of the king not being crowned queen.

"It’s how that goal is achieved, which is crucially important," Penny writes.

Camilla’s family have also voiced their concern about the 72-year-old receiving that monumental title.

"Between Diana and the queen is a hard place to be. How is she going to be judged? It’s going to be such shake-up," a family member told the author.

"I think it would be better for her if she became princess consort."

As it stands, Camilla will be given the title HRH The Princess Consort when Charles is given the throne, according to Town & Country.
