Cape Town - It seems avid royal fans won’t be witnessing baby Archie’s christening.
To the delight of many enthusiasts over the years, royal traditional occasions have turned into celebrations with bountiful public candid moments of the family.
And after Megan and Harry welcomed their firstborn son, Archie, many fans have been itching to get a glimpse of the little one.
But it seems that won’t be happening anytime soon.
The duke and duchess have opted for a private baptism ceremony for the blue blood, a royal source recently told The Sunday Times.
The new parents, who’ve only shared a few shots of baby Sussex after his birth at Windsor Castle, will release a selection of candid images onto their Instagram account after the christening.
The ceremony will reportedly take place at the Queen’s private chapel inside the castle itself and will be attended by 25 guests, E News reported.
But this isn’t the first time a royal pair have renounced a family tradition.
Prince William and his wife, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, hosted a small media briefing for their sons, five-year-old prince George and one-year-old Louis’ christening at St James’s Palace.
Only Princess Charlotte’s Sandringham christening was open to the public.
But the privatisation of royal ceremonies, particularly Archie’s baptism, could possibly leave many fans uninterested in “stylised” pictures of the new royal addition, warns Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine.
“I think what people want and what people are used to seeing are lovely family images of the baby in the royal Honiton lace christening gown,” she told the Daily Mail.
The intimate royal affair remains a topic of debate as preparations lead up to Archie’s christening, which is to take place this weekend. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are also only set to announce Archie’s godparents on the special day.
