How Kate Middleton really felt when she seemingly 'ignored' Meghan Markle at her last official engagement as a royal

Everyone was talking about William and Kate's not-so-friendly "hello" when they first saw Harry and Meghan at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey – the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's final engagement as senior members of the royal family.

It was so cold, you didn't have to be in the UK to feel winter's chill.

But what really happened in that moment when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge seemingly "ignored" their brother and sister-in-law?

According to Vanity Fair, Kate, specifically, seemed "uncharacteristically glum", but the publication quoted a royal source who said, "Possibly she was tired, but she didn't look overjoyed."

"To be honest, I think Kate has taken it all badly," they added. "She, Harry and William were once such a happy trio, she thinks what has happened is all very sad."

But of course, the world wouldn't have seen it like that. From day one, despite their best efforts to be seen, happy, together in public, the tabloid press has been pitting Kate and Meghan against one another.

There is undoubtedly some tension between the Cambridges and Sussexes. Many have speculated that, for William and Kate, it has something to do with the fact that they had to quickly pick up where half of their generation of senior royals left off after suddenly stepping down, while Harry and Meghan have felt unsupported by not only William and Kate, but the entire royal family.

After all, to this day, none of the royals have publicly defended Harry and Meghan, staying loyal to their decades-old 'keep calm and carry on' WWII motto instead.

And still, while things may not be perfect with the Cambridges and Sussexes, the tabloid press probably did with this exactly what they've been doing when they first compared Kate's "stylish co-ordinated" outfits with the queen to Meghan's "confusion over a hat" when they both attended their solo engagements with the queen.

Or when they wrote about "Kate Middleton's homegrown bouquet" and how it followed royal code at her wedding, to headlines that read, "How Meghan Markle's flowers may have put Princess Charlotte's life at risk".

This is just another case of "Pregnant Kate tenderly cradles her baby bump" and "Why can't Meghan keep her hands off her bump?", which will likely push Harry and Meghan further away from the monarchy they've already left behind.
