Cape Town – Meghan reportedly had a special meeting with Michelle Obama when the former First Lady of the United States was in London to launch her new memoir, Becoming.

Kensington Palace confirmed to E! News the Duchess of Sussex attended Michelle’s book tour stop at the Royal Festival Hall on Monday evening.

Thereafter Meghan “had a long private audience with Michelle,” Evening Standard reports.

An insider told the publication: “They spoke at length about the importance of supporting and empowering women across all cultures and communities.

“They also talked about shared experiences of pregnancy and raising children, plus shared causes including girls' education.”

The meeting between the two powerhouses comes after Michelle offered her “best advice” to the duchess when adjusting to her new life as a royal.

In an interview with Good Housekeeping, Michelle said: “Like me, Meghan probably never dreamed that she’d have a life like this, and the pressure - from yourself and from others - can sometimes feel like a lot.”

The author added: “So my biggest advice would be to take some time and don’t be in a hurry to do anything.”

Elaborating on her words, Michelle explained how she took her time to ease into her new life as FLOTUS and once she was ready, she took on more ambitious work.

Speaking of Meghan’s initiatives as a royal, Michelle said: “There’s so much opportunity to do good with a platform like that — and I think she [Meghan] can maximise her impact for others, as well as her own happiness, if she’s doing something that resonates with her personally.”
