Cape Town – Details for Princess Beatrice's wedding have been revealed – which includes the proposed date for the royal affair.

The palace released a statement on Friday reading, "The wedding of HRH Princess Beatrice of York and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will take place on Friday 29 May 2020."

The statement added, "Her Majesty The Queen has kindly given permission for the ceremony to take place at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace. The ceremony will be followed by a private reception, given by The Queen, in the gardens of Buckingham Palace."

A source has confirmed the princess will have a "low-key" special day, which is what the royal couple wanted from the get-go. The wedding also doesn't look as though it will be televised at this point, with both BBC and ITV choosing not to do a live video broadcast.

Her engagement dinner was also a more private affair, many speculating Prince Andrew's ongoing scandal may have resulted in that decision. The Duke of York also skipped the dinner as a result.

However, an insider told People that Prince Andrew will be at the wedding and play a key role.

"I definitely think he will walk her down the aisle," the source said. "He plays a very traditional role in her life. She's his greatest supporter."

"This is obviously very hard times," the insider added. "Beatrice would never do anything to be hurtful to her father. He's going to be by her side, and she's going to be by his."

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo first announced their engagement in September 2019.

"We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can't wait to be married," they said in an official statement.

"We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness."
