Cape Town - Queen Elizabeth is rather pedantic about the way her beverages are served.

The 93-year-old monarch reportedly dislikes the clinking sound that ice cubes make against glass, so much so she’s decided to stick to round ice cubes to avoid being irritated, Independent reported.

Karen Dolby, author of Queen Elizabeth II’s Guide To Life, revealed that staff at the royal residences have instructions to stock up on round ice-cube trays, according to The Sun.

"The queen likes her ice cubes in her glass to be round so they don’t chink quite as much as square ones," she said.

When Queen Elizabeth has her favourite cocktail, which is gin and Dubonnet, a popular fortified wine in the UK, she enjoys it with two round ice cubes.

To eliminate potential irritating chinking sounds around Her Majesty, Prince Philip bought a machine that churns ice cubes into smaller portions, Daily Mail reports.
