There have been new developments in the much anticipated third instalment of Legally Blonde.
Deadline reports that Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor (Parks and Recreation) have signed on to write the screenplay which will have a new fresh spin.
Reese Witherspoon will reprise her role as Elle Woods with her production studio, Hello Sunshine, producing the film.
The Little Fires Everywhere actress confirmed the news on Instagram with a cute picture of her character and Mindy.
She wrote: "Verified great news alert! Some things are just meant to be! I'm so excited to have @MindyKaling and #DanGoor writing Legally Blonde 3! This is #ElleWoodsApproved!"

In 2018 Reese confirmed that a sequel is in the works with the plot likely to focus on female empowerment.
The original film released in 2001 was based on the novel by Amanda Brown and was a box office hit. Nineteen years later the film is considered a cult classic.
A sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonder was released in 2003 and a spin-off in 2009 Legally Blondes that went straight to DVD.
