Every year on 24 September, South Africans celebrate Heritage Day with the goal of encouraging pride in the country’s cultural diversity. As a result September is considered Heritage month. To celebrate this year’s heritage month SABC radio station Motsweding FM will focus its curation on playing more local  music. 

Everyday Motsweding plays approximately 132 songs. By going local during September, 132 songs by South Africa artists will reach the Setswana radio station’s audience. According to Seapolelo the Broadcast Research Council recorded over 1.8 million listeners tuning in to Motsweding a day.
